SEN Forum

We are running an SEN Forum in conjunction with the Local Authority. The aim of this is to encourage parents and support groups to have some influence on the direction of future SEN strategy within Wiltshire. The meetings will be organised and facilitated by the Special Educational Needs Support Service (SENSS) which is the statutory provider of Parent Partnership services for Wiltshire Local Authority and a part of the ask.

The Local Authority has agreed to send appropriate representatives from sections dealing with education, social care and health to address the issues raised at the County Forum.

There will be a meeting in each of the District Council areas solely for parents, carers and members of Voluntary Sector Support Groups, at which questions will be collected and prioritised. The questions will be directly related to SEN issues, policies and practices rather than individual cases. The priority questions from each district meeting will then be circulated to the relevant officers and posted on both the ask and Wiltshire County Council websites.

Representatives from each of the district meetings will be invited to attend the county forum so that a constructive and non-confrontational discussion can be held with the officers concerned.

We would be pleased to hear your feedback on the responses given at the previous forum, details of which can be found in our 'SEN Forum notes' section.
