Working Tax Credit

Working Tax Credit (WTC) is a payment for people who are working and on a low income.  It is paid directly into a bank, building society or Post Office card account.

You do not have to have a child in order to claim; however, if you do not have a child you must be:

  • aged 25 or over and work a minimum of 30 hours per week or have a disability and work a minimum of 16 hours per week;

and

  • be on a low income.

If you are responsible for a child or young person you may get WTC if:

  • you are over 16;

  • you work a minimum of 16 hours per week;

To do this we use a web based facility. Personal information (details of income, age etc.) is needed to give an estimate. Although we ask for callers’ names and contact details to record enquiries, no information that could identify an individual is entered on the website.  Please contact the LoCall Helpline on 08457 585072 for more information.
