From April 2009 every mum-to-be can benefit from a one-off, tax free Health in Pregnancy Grant of £190.
This will not affect your tax credits or any other benefits; everyone is entitled to this grant to help prepare for the birth of a new baby.
Claim forms are available from your midwife or GP from January 2009 and a claim can be made as long as you are at least 25 weeks pregnant and your expected delivery date is on or after 6th April 2009.
The Health in Pregnancy Grant will be paid directly into your bank or building society account.
