Crèches provide care for babies and young children allowing parents to shop, attend training, or pursue leisure activities. In Wiltshire there are permanent crèches in some sport and leisure centres, and on some army camps and Royal Airforce stations. Temporary crèches are offered at many courses and conferences.
If a crèche is open for more than two hours a day and more than five days a year, it must be registered with OFSTED even if individual children attend for shorter periods.
In some of Wiltshire’s garrison towns, groups for under 3’s are sometimes called crèches although they are registered as sessional groups.
