Crèches provide care for babies and young children allowing parents to shop, attend training, or pursue leisure activities. In Wiltshire there are permanent crèches in some sport and leisure centres, and on some army camps. Temporary crèches are offered at many courses and conferences.
If a crèche is open for more than two hours a day and more than five days a year, it should be registered with Ofsted even if individual children attend for shorter periods. Please contact Ofsted for further clarification.
In some of Wiltshire’s garrison towns, groups for under 3s are sometimes called crèches although they are registered as sessional groups.
