Choice Advice Service

Choice Advice

The Choice Advice Service offers parents and carers free and impartial help and support to enable them to make the best and most realistic choice of secondary school for a child.

A Choice Advisers role is to:

  • work with families to understand their child’s needs and interests.

  • provide and explain a range of information.

  • enable parents/carers to make an informed choice.

  • advise on policies and procedures.

  • act independently from the Local Authority.

  • advise parents, not to decide for them.

We can discuss with you:

  • how the admissions system works.
  • admissions policies for different types of schools.
  • school performance and value added data.
  • school Ofsted reports.
  • oversubscription criteria.
  • school profiles, ethos, special facilities etc.
  • special needs policy and provision.
  • school specialisms.
  • time of the school day and term dates.
  • travel details.
  • uniform policies and lists.
  • school charging policies.
  • how the appeal process works.

The Choice Advice Service is available online, over the phone, at one to one meetings or in group sessions.
