Family Information Service (FIS)
We provide free, independent and confidential information and advice to parents and carers of children and young people living in, or moving to, Wiltshire.
The FIS has information on:
- Parent and Toddler Groups;
- activities and leisure groups for 0 to 19 year olds;
- national and local support services for health, education, financial, legal and family issues;
- schools.
These are just a few of the many topics we can provide information on and if we do not have the information you need we will do our best to find it.
The FIS can offer you:
- a listening ear;
- a free, independent and confidential service;
- free leaflets, packs and information sheets on a wide range of topics;
- a web site that includes an Advice Section and Find it! a directory of Family Services (including a Special Find it! section), Parent and Toddler Groups, Activities and Children Centres.
Outreach services from the FIS
Our Outreach Workers regularly meet parents and carers to talk about their information and support needs at a variety of venues including:
- Ante-natal and Post-natal Groups
- Parent and Toddler Groups
- Family Centres
- Children's Centres
- HIVES in garrison communities
- Health Centres and Clinics
Free leaflets and information packs
Our free leaflets and information packs deal with a wide range of topics including:
- Choosing childcare
- Choosing a school
- Special Educational Needs issues
- Mental health issues
- Exclusion
- Bullying
- Family separation
Whether adoption or autism, benefits or bereavement, a child trust fund or counselling - whatever you need to know we will try to give you an answer straightaway or do some research and get back to you.
